“Young Adult” A buzz word, a stage of life, a sobering reality, independence… this term could mean a million things to a million different people. But what does it mean for our Tribe?
Well, here are four markers that make up our definition – Convinced, Connected, Concerned and Commissioned. These are four key components that display our passion as a Tribe.
Convinced.
Being young adults means, we are passionate about the bible. And therefore are convinced that all the questions and challenges we face in this stage of lives as deep, scary and personal as they are, can be brought before God in his word. So every time we meet, expect the bible to be opened and seeing people get real with it
Connected.
Being young adults means, we are passionate about each other. We don’t want to be “Church Mates” but are striving as a family. With all our imperfections, brokenness, quirks, gifts and talents, we want to live with each other in a real and meaningful way outside the walls of the church building.
Concerned.
Being young adults means, we are passionate about Midrand. Practically this means we don’t shy away from the cultural concerns of Midrand but we tackle them head on with the word of God by the power of his Holy Spirit. Be it racism, GBV, homelessness or the crime in our city, we want to lovingly and considerately be a presence that will bring change in this city.
Commissioned.
Being young adults means, we are passionate about Jesus’ mission. So we have the privilege of being sent by him to go tell the world about what he has done for them. We want to see people of all tribes, nations and languages, who don’t know Jesus coming to love, walk and serve him with their lives.
Call to action.
Being a young adult means, you cannot do life alone. So if you are between the ages of 20 and your late 30’s, single, dating, engaged or married, even with kids. And you are passionate about one or all of the above, why not join us? We meet EVERY WEDNESDAY, 7PM – 9PM, IN THE SMALL HALL @CHRIST CHURCH MIDRAND. So you can be sharpened, be loved, be an agent of change and be part of the greatest mission in human history (a bit dramatic, but very true).
