A life of service

Every year at our Revive weekend away we look at an aspect of our church DNA which says that we are a Redeemed Family of Servants on Mission. What also happens every year, is we all come back with bruised hearts and bruised egos. I’m not talking about the unwanted effects that comes from losing in the sports matches (Though that does happen as well), I’m talking about the way we feel after God’s word has convicted us. The aching heart, the longing to make a change, the guilt that comes from knowing who we are the excitement that comes from understanding who God is… this is all part of conviction.

Luckily this year was no different. Shaun Storer took the objective truth of serving and made it a subjective reality. Through skilful work in the scripture, and the empowerment of the Spirit, we were all forced to look deep inside ourselves and make a cataclysmic change. We were asked to make service part of the core of who we are. And we were called to enjoy it. If you did not make camp, want a simple refresher or think someone else could benefit from you sharing what Shaun taught, then look no further. All the talks that Shaun did are found below. To share each talk with another, simply look for the Facebook, Whatsapp, email and other sharing icons on each of the sermon pages (or you can share the whole series by finding the share icons on this page).

Who is Shaun Storer?

God saved me in 1989 during my first year at Stellenbosch University. I completed my BSc Honours in Animal Science and spent 6 years working in Johannesburg as a consultant in the farming industry. In 2000 I left my work and wnt to study Theology at George Whitefield College in Cape Town. From 2003 to 2006 I was part of the staff team at Christ Church Midrand before a group of us planted a church in Fourways for 11 years until the end of 2017.

I now spend half of my time working with the Acts 29 Network in Southern Africa as the project manager for their training academy. The other half of my time is committed to starting a new workplace ministry with Truthwalk and being part of the staff team at Hope Church.
