Planting Sunday Schools in Tembisa

As part of our church DNA, which is “Redeemed Family of Servants on a Mission” (Click here for more), Reach 60 is one of the avenues for us to fulfil our mission of reaching the lost. We do this by planting and partnering with Sunday schools in Tembisa. For God has sent us to reach out to all nations with the Gospel.

Children are valuable part of God’s Kingdom. Through this program, we hope to grow Sunday Schools by finding those willing to teach God’s children. We will walk along side these people and help them in creating a strong and sustainable Sunday Schools.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to help interested Gospel leaders in the community of Tembisa and abroad to teach the bible to children, because we believe that God loves Children. “He desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the Truth” – 1 Timothy 2:4

OUR GOALS

To plant 60 Sunday schools in the community of Thembisa. Our hope is that churches and youth groups will grow out of these planted Sunday Schools.

OUR STORY

One of our goals of chapter 3 is to grow God’s kingdom in Tembisa. Tembisa is a growing community in need of bible based, Gospel teaching. Since God has called us to reach the world with the Gospel (Matthew 28:18 – 20), we needed to act. Since 2014 our approach has been to plant Sunday Schools and to find Sunday Schools to partner with in the hopes of creating Gospel centered churches.

In 2016, Dudu Mkhize and Eddie Lombard began searching for people who were interested in teaching the bible to children. Through meeting up with them, and sending many to be trained at the Reach Equip Centre, many Sunday Schools have been planted and existing Sunday schools equipped.

REACH EQUIP

For the Sunday schools we plant and the Sunday schools we partner with, we provide monthly training through Reach Equip. The goal is to help them be well prepared for teaching the bible to children faithfully and confidently.

The content we cover is biblical theology, practical teaching methods as well as general topics relevant to children’s ministry. The course runs for two years, after which each student is awarded a certificate upon completion.

If you’re not part of a life group, you should be. Christians are not saved to live alone, we’re saved into a family (Ephesians 1:1 – 14). Why not sign up to a life group?
