A Thing You Should Know

Bible Reading: 1 Timothy 1:12 – 17.

Dr David Seccombe reminds us of the heart of the Gospel: that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. He paints the picture of what a life looks like of someone who has been transformed by this truth. By exploring the lives of great men of the English reformation, Dr Seccombe shows the how this Gospel conviction changes lives. Knowing that Christ saves sinners is the deep, soul-securing joy of the work of Jesus. Once we come to the conclusion that we are sinners, we are brought face to face with the conviction that drives us either towards despair to towards our saviour.

Paul describes himself as “the worst” of sinners in 1 Timothy 1:15. However, feeling like this about himself drives him straight to Jesus. Listen to the unpacking of the trustworthy saying and delight in the work of Jesus. This passage not only sends us running towards Jesus, it also sums up the Gospel perfectly.
