Being a disciple is simply following God. As we follow him though, he takes the terrible construction site which is our lives and slowly he fixes the mess. In this passage, the disciples see the amazing work of Jesus, but they don’t truly see him for who he is. In the face of an incredible miracle where Jesus walks on water, and the fact that he calls himself ‘I am’, the disciples still don’t see him as God. Their construction site has the wrong view of God, and God needs to fix the mess. The challenge for us is: Do we ‘see Jesus’. Do we truly see him for who he is? As David preaches, he explains why we don’t see him and what we should see from Mark’s Gospel.
