Our Vision for 2019 – 2014

OUR HISTORY

This year 2019 marks the 25th birthday of Christ Church Midrand. We opened our doors at the Midrand Protea Hotel in April 1994 with 4 adults and 2 children. We moved onto the present property in 1996. God has blessed the proclamation of the Gospel from Christ Church Midrand and today we have a church family of over 1,200 people.

During the last 25 years we started various ministries and Christian outreach projects:

  • Christ Church Preparatory School & College which now has over 640 learners up to Matric.
  • Student ministry at Pearson Institute of Higher Education.
  • The Love Trust which includes Nokuphila School in Tembisa
with 350 learners from Grade 000 – 7; Ten Early Childhood Teacher Training Centres around the country where 800 pre-school teachers are studying or have graduated with a SAQA accredited Early Childhood Development certificate; by 2020 we will be mentoring 40 ECD pre-schools in Tembisa.
  • Church Plants and ministries in Pretoria; Johannesburg North and Tembisa.
  • Our Africa Outreach includes 33 churches in Mozambique (REACH Mozambique); 25 churches in DRC (REACH DRC); 10 churches in Zimbabwe (REACH Zimbabwe).
  • The Gospel Coalition Africa was launched in October 2018 with readers from 51 African countries.

OUR MISSION

In Christ we are a Redeemed Family of Servants on Mission.
Our unchanging mission is to see unbelieving people tranformed into fully committed disciples of Christ. We want to implement our mission more effectively and more strategically.

The 2 key elements of Chapter 3 Point 5 are:

  • To grow and strengthen our church family to maturity, intentionally walking with every member into deeper discipleship.
  • To continue reaching out to our community, country and the continent of Africa.

OUR GOALS

INREACH:

  • Deepen Discipleship
  • Care and Counselling Centre

OUTREACH:

  • Reach growing Midrand population
  • One new church plant in Gauteng every 3 years
  • Plant a Christ Church Teacher Training College (funded by school)
  • Plant new REACH denominations in Africa

BUILDING PLANS:

Our buildings need significant renovations after 23 years of very heavy usage. There are on average, 1,500 people on the property almost every day. We also need an additional public venue (chapel) as the church grows and further ministries start.

  • Renovate Small Hall
  • Renovate Auditorium
  • Build Auditorium Lobby
  • Renovate Toilet Block

WHAT CAN I DO?

PRAY: Prayer is the foundation of all we do. Pray for our church,
leaders, discipleship and outreach.

SHARE: Find ways to share your faith

GIVE: To fulfil our mission and goals we need to raise money for additional staff and buildings. You can give a once-off gift or a monthly pledge over 12 months, over and above your normal giving. Our gifts will always differ in proportion to each person’s resources but we can share an equal sense of sacrifice.
“Equal sacrifice; Unequal Amounts”.

“A good character is the best tombstone. Those who loved you and were helped by you will remember you when forget-me-nots have withered. Carve your name on hearts, not on marble.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11: 28 – 30

Jesus

God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing.

C. S. Lewis

If you’re not part of a life group, you should be. Christians are not saved to live alone, we’re saved into a family (Ephesians 1:1 – 14). Why not sign up to a life group?
