Looking back on a wonderful day

We celebrated 30 years on Sunday morning. We sang, reflected on fond memories, listened to testimonies, received greetings from around the world and feasted on God’s word through the sermon. It was a wonderful day. Look below to see wonderful photos of the occassion.

The auditorium overflowed with people. The 08h00 and 18h00 congregations came together at 09h30 and we were also joined by Christ Church Nokuphila, our most recent church plant.

The Flower Team

The day before the event, our flower team of volunteers arrived early to start creating arrangements to beautify the tables, the foyers, walkways and the stage – all in-keeping with the harvest theme of Pentecost.

The Photo Gallery

While people waited for the service to start, they kept themselves occupied by looking at the beautiful photo gallery mounted outside the auditorium. Be sure to spend some time looking at them this Sunday if you haven’t already.

Our Hospitality Team

Our Hospitality team geared up for all the people. They ushered, distributed food and even took photographs. We give thanks to God for our church community that is willing to serve!

Old and New Faces

It was wonderful to see old and new faces as we moved step-by-step through three decades.

The 1st Decade

Martin and Jean’s Story

Martin and Jean gave a beautiful account of the early years. Their interview will be part of the video that will be released as soon as it is ready.

Prayers from some of our first congregants

Peter Moore, Martha Mokoena and Cate Arenstein shared memories and prayers for our church.

Our School

David Bell, the Headmaster of Christ Church Preparatory School and College also gave a great interview which you can watch on the video in due course.

We loved hearing from Kathryn Tafirei and Herman Jansen (Pictured below), who were part of the first Grade 0 Class at the school. Michelle Sibanda interviewed them and it was a joy to reflect on the impact the school continues to make in our community.

Christiene Morris, one of the Bursars at the school prayed for the Christ Church Preparatory School and College.

The Music

Our Music Team led us in singing songs of Praise and Thanksgiving.

The Photographer

Meet our official photographer for the morning – Mashilo Moabelo from MashKG Photography.

Return for more

We give thanks to the Lord for the first decade that laid the foundation for future decades to come.

Keep checking back for more photos of the second and third decades of the life of our church.

To God be the glory!
